The Lanes

Living in London can be quite stressful sometimes, especially during manic hours on the tube!  It's hard to believe that a place like Brighton can exist so close to London.

My friends and I went to Brighton last weekend.  It was definitely on my top list of the best places I've every been too.  The town was beautiful, so relaxed and very easy to get around.  The people were really cool and dare I say it...so trendy!

The night life was second to none, a lot of pubs in very close walking distance.  I would recommend the green door and the fish bowl.  The fish bowl stays open until 4 am for all you party people out there.

The food was delicious.  We went to Bills for breakfast, nicest breakfast I've had in so long.  Definitely, definitely book ahead when eating out because every where was full :( There was a really cool Mexican and Latin restaurant we wanted to go to but unfortunately we were a little too late.

We stayed in Kipps hostel, it was the Biz Nizz! No honestly it was one of the nicest hostels I've ever stayed in.  They even had chocolate fondue when we arrived...mmmm!  It was also really central, I highly recommend the place.

Brighton Pier was my favourite, it was so nice to just relax and take in the scenic view.  I also witnessed a seagull trying to make off with a women's fish and chips, that gave me a fit of giggles.  The casino and fun fair was a nice surprise as well.

All in all, it was a refreshing, chilled out weekend that was filled with lots of laughter and good memories.

Hey everyone,

I have to point out that I live with incredible artistic people, they put me to shame!  I wish I had a useful and beautiful talent like they do.  I've expressed this view with them and they don't agree.

 They believe that everyone has an artistic bone in their body.  That art isn't meant to be done in a specific way or look perfect either.  Just happens to be that their's does look perfect! I can see where they are coming from and they have even inspired me to try it out.

I looked up art for beginners and decided to draw penguins, it does look like a four year old drew it. I have to say though,  I loved it and I really enjoyed working on it.  Painting is so therapeutic  and a definite stress reliever.

I included a few painting that my friends are working on at the moment.  If ye like what ye see, please let me know. I'm sure they would even love suggestions on what else they could draw.

How To Add Social Buttons

I saw a lot of social media buttons on other peoples blogs and honestly had no idea how they did it.  Thankfully Google is everyone's friend and it was actually really easy.

I found a very helpful YouTube tutorial that you can find here. Emily from Blogholic designs gives you step by step instructions on how to install the social buttons and she is very clear in each step she takes.

There is no coding involved, if there was I truly would have been at a lost.  The video relates to Blogger blogs but I'm sure she has one for Wordpress as well.

So after learning how to do it, I needed some social buttons.  I downloaded mine here for free. The one's I choose are very simplistic which is what I like. I've seen some really cool social buttons on other blogs so if you don't like those ones, keep searching :) You will definitely find the one just for you out there on the interweb.

I hope this has helped some people from endless googling and maybe even from pulling their hair out. There are still a few more things I need to figure out.  When I do I will make a post, hopefully I will figure it out soon! :S

Hey everyone,

I decided to do a post on my trip to Rome a while back. Apparently you either fall in love with Paris or Rome.  Honestly I fell in love with both.

 Rome was so much fun and such a beautiful city with so much visible history.

My favourite parts of the city were the Spanish Steps, the Trevi fountain *Make a Wish*, Trastevere (Beauuuutiful!!) ,Vatican City and The Colosseum. We didn't get to see the Sistine Chapel because it was closed, so disappointed.  The Pope resigned while we were there so everything was kind of up in the air.  The food was delicious, especially the pizza...yummy!

The parks in Rome were to die for, you can even go rowing on the lake for 5 euro which was really fun.  It's a pretty easy city to get around, you can actually walk most of it and there's always the metro.

When ever I go on a weekend trip I always buy a travel book because they are really handy to have.  If you want to really experience Italian culture and stay away from the tourists attractions, I'd recommend couch surfing. Basically, you can stay with a local for free and if they are nice they will take you around the city and show you the local gems.

BlackFish Documentary 2013

Hey guys,

I watched this documentary Blackfish recently and I think everyone should see it. It was released in 2013  and directed by Gabriela Cowperthwaite.  It documents Sea World in America and the Orca Whales at the Park. The documentary focuses particularly on one Whale "Tilikum".

The documentary is a real eye opener and I for one will never be going to a water park or zoo every again.  It shows the dangers of having whales kept in captivity and also the ridiculous lies that staff and trainers are told. It really is horrific.

I have bugged everyone to watch it and no one can believe all the stuff that happens.  I can imagine in 50 years time, we will all look back and think that water parks were messed up and how they ever came about. I hope so anyway.

So if you have nothing to watch or are looking for a good documentary, blackfish is one to try out. You can find it on Netflix, the American one as it's not on the UK Netflix. If you want the American Netflix, you can change the settings to get it :)  Let me know if ye watch it.

*Warning* You will most definitely cry!

The Book Thief

Hey Guys,

I was waiting for the tube the other day and saw a huge poster advertising the release of the book thief.  I was so excited when I saw it because the book was amazing! 

 The book was written by Markus Zusak and follows a young girl Liesel who steals books. It's based around World War II in Germany.  There's a lot more too it but I don't want to give anything away.  

I would definitely recommend reading the book first mainly because the narrator was death; so different and unique to any book I've read.  I'm not sure if the movie would portray that part of the book which is why I think it would be a really good idea to read the book first. Sure isn't always a good idea to read the book first :) 

It really is a magnificent story and told beautifully. Anyway it's great so get on it before you splurge in the cinema :) I can't wait!
